Brian and Angie Savage
Brian and Angie Savage, an ophthalmologist (eye surgeon) and nurse educator, have worked in a number of locations in Africa, and in 2011 moved to Dodoma to take up positions at St John's University of Tanzania, and the Mvumi Mission Hospital.
Prior to their move to Dodoma, they spent 7 years at Haydom Lutheran Hospital and still maintain advisory contact there.Originally from UK, Brian and Angie have spent almost 20 years in Africa, having given medical mission service in Zambia, Botswana, Malawi and Tanzania. They have two adult children in England.
Brian is an Ophthalmologist (Eye Surgeon). He is particularly experienced in operating to restore the eyesight of those blinded by Cataract, the cause of over half of blindness in rural Africa.
Angie has a degree in nursing education and has taught nurses at degree and diploma level. Angie has a particular interest in hospital infection control, and transcultural nursing.
